As we ring in 2019, we’re mindful of the lyrics of that great traditional New Year’s song Auld Lang Syne – “Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind.”  Well, should they?

Prior customers are just like those old acquaintances from the song.  Maybe they bought once and moved on.  Maybe they’ve changed their telephone number.  Maybe they moved. Any number of things could have changed between now and that last sale.

But, one thing in marketing never changes – it’s far easier to sell to a prior customer than find a new one. Aging customer and prospect databases are chock full of viable upsell and acquisition opportunities- just waiting for someone to breathe life back into them. Sounds complicated, but it’s easier than you think.

Updating mailing addresses, telephone numbers, and adding email addresses on a customer file is a quick and painless first step to start converting more sales in the New Year.  Don’t let those old acquaintances be forgot.  Make the resolution to update your old customer database, and start 2019 off right with more sales.
